We live in an ever changing world today and perhaps it is one which many may not recognise. We chat daily here at SRCC with our residents about times gone by, the innocence of how the world used to be and where everyone just got on with their chores and how simple life was. It is lovely to reminisce and remind ourselves of the beautiful place we grew up in where such simple times had actually granted us a chance of being the most special people in the world. We feel so lucky at SRCC to be in a position to relive all these wonderful times whenever we choose. Being kind, caring, considerate of others and most of all looking out for each other is key to living our lives to the fullest. We’ve all heard of the term ‘team work’ throughout many different social media sites and even I speak of it here. It is of course without a doubt key to any place or organisation where you have multiple people working together. Not everyone works in the same department and we have multiple departments here at SRCC….management, activities, carers, kitchen/catering, laundry, house keeping, maintenance, gardener and the list actually goes on. What I’m coming to basically is that in the event of change happening (for one reason or another in life), everyone is adaptable and can work together. However big or small the group may be, joining forces, helping each other and sticking together during times of change is a true demonstration of how teamwork truly works. Fortunately for us here at SRCC our team consistently show their creativity and abundance of spontaneity for the better of others. It would be a shame not to wouldn’t it? 😅☀️🍦….our residents, staff members and their children/grandchildren (both on/off duty), thoroughly enjoyed an afternoon of the most amazing selection of ice-creams. * Mayo V Kerry ⚽️…..Thank you for the most wonderful All Ireland Football Final viewing on tv. From start to finish this game has had everyone gripped to their seats (except mine I was literally in the screen 😂). The game was literally for everyone, it went for a time when both sides might be a possibility of the winners to in the end Mayo taking the winnings. I keep saying the difference between winning and losing is phenomenal. It’s the difference of being so happy to being so deflated. Thanks to both teams today, ye were both amazing. Our residents had the most wonderful time at the Annual Carbery Show in Skibbereen today and we were thrilled that we came 3rd in the flower category for’6 spikes of sweet pea’. I might also add that these outings don’t just happen at the drop of a hat….it takes multiple people to make days like this possible. Firstly thanks to our care team at SRCC for preparing our residents and having them ready for departure this morning, to our extra staff brought on board throughout our outing and our kitchen staff for facilitating with our slightly later return….a huge thanks to you all. Ye are true stars and another example of the best teamwork one can find 👏🏻👏🏻. We move on to our chauffeur for the day, Pat Fitzgerald….representing Dave Long/West Cork Connect as always Pat is consistently kind to our residents and staff, he is super attentive to detail with the handling of our residents and their safety while he assists us moving everyone from wheelchairs to bus seats, safety first all the time, thanks Pat for you professionalism as always 👏🏻. Then we come to the Carbery Show team, the stewards, volunteers and everyone working for this wonderful organisation, we cannot applaud you all enough. Your kindness showed to us along with your caring approach and help throughout this event has been unimaginable and we are so very grateful for this, ye deserve the very best and we truly hope ye had the most successful day.
