Today at SRCC we celebrated BikeWeek 11th – 19th May. The excitement, the joy and the interaction with the people in our community was just astounding. The respect from those who we encountered on the roads was absolutely amazing and we thank you all. To Katie from cycle sense….you were our true shining light today. Thank you for your patience, kindness, reliability and just being yourself, we very much appreciated this and we would highly recommend you to anyone. Our residents are still and will continue to talk about their experience today 👏🏻 🚲 ☀️ #nursinghomesireland #ageandopportunity #corkcountycouncillibraryandartsservices #cyclesense #bealtaine #skibbereen

Hands up who likes music? 🙌. Throughout our daily lives we hear it everywhere whether or not we find ourselves aware of it or not. The radio, shops, restaurants, at work etc etc….it’s everywhere. Every song triggers a different emotion within us. It helps us to talk more openly about situations we might otherwise have found bottled up within us. Music is great for socialising, our mood, our minds, our bodies and is also well know for its value in therapeutic settings.

We at SRCC are great advocates of music and consistently throughout every week provide many sessions which all our residents reap the benefits of. The smiles, the joining in of songs, the tapping of feet are just some of the visual signs of joy within everyone.

Maybe throughout this coming week, become more aware of the music around you, how it makes you feel and maybe you too can reap the benefits. The following are some links relating to a clearer understanding of music, our minds and our bodies ⬇️⬇️

Are you a Comfortable or Confident person?

It’s a choice at the end of the day, it’s a state of mind and may even be a place in life where it finds you at any one given time. Have you ever found yourself being told not to do something but this inadvertently finds you doing it. It is a well know fact that Airline Pilots notice when they are told not to hit a specific object or avoid something, they will hit the obstacle because they are focusing in on it specifically and find themselves comfortable at that moment. If we are comfortable we settle for what it is but if we are confident we will seek out every eventuality, scan areas of danger, be strategic with motions and plan the rocky road ahead till we reach the end we worked and seeked so much for.

Being confident will empower and give you confidence to face whatever comes your way. Our staff and residents at SRCC are a perfect example of such and exhibit this throughout each day. Confidence is a power which we all have within us, sometimes we just need to exercise, unleash it and trust ourselves. Perhaps for the week ahead it might be time well spent working on or possibly being observant of this and exercising it throughout the days ahead.
